About the Chubu Walkathon

So, exactly what IS the Chubu Walkathon ?

Good question!

While the main objective of the
Chubu Walkathon International Charity Festival is to raise money for local charities, we would also like to emphasize that it is a very fun and exciting day for you and your entire family.

The Walkathon has something for everyone...of all ages!

How it Works

How much does it cost to attend?

In lieu of event entry tickets, attendees are simply asked to purchase a raffle ticket (¥3,000 for Adults; ¥1,000 kids/students). The raffle tickets make you eligible to win great prizes. 100% of your raffle ticket purchase goes to support the various charities we support.

Do we need money for anything else?

You will want to bring extra money to spend on such things as:

  • food and drink from the various food vendors
  • games and activities
  • Marche vendors
  • additional raffle tickets
  • Walkathon T-Shirts (while supplies last)

What form of payment is accepted?

Please bring cash. Electronic payments including credit cards are NOT accepted at the Walkathon.

Ticket System

Food and activity purchases can only be made using special Food & Activity Tickets.

Please note:

  • Tickets are sold in sheets of 10 for ¥1,000 per sheet (10 x ¥100).
  • Food Vendors, Marche, and Activities do NOT accept cash (tickets only).
  • 10%~20% of your purchases of food and goods will be donated to our charities.
  • 100% of what you spend on activities will be donated to our charities.
  • Tickets are only sold in sheets of 10 (no single ticket sales).
  • Tickets can be used 1 by 1 (all items are priced in round, ¥100 increments).
  • No refunds for unused tickets (100% of unused tickets will in effect become a donation).

The more fun you have and the more food you eat, the more money we can raise in support of our many local charities. Go nuts!

There will be a booth and/or ample volunteers walking around selling Food & Activity Tickets at the park.

Booths operated by the charities we support may accept cash (not tickets) for various goods they might have available.

Live bands and music at Chubu Walkathon

Live Music & Entertainment

A lot of activity is centered around the main stage where you will be entertained all day long by various types of live music and performances.
The line-up varies from year to year but is always culturally diverse with such acts as:
  • live bands
  • dance performances (hula, country line, hip-hop...)
  • traditional Japanese taiko or shamisen
  • etc...
But make no mistake, the Walkathon is not merely a concert. Get up and walk around, check out the various family-friendly activities that await you.

The Walkathon is Kid-Friendly

There is always lots for the young 'uns to do!

A multitude of planned activities await the kiddies. They can have their faces painted, watch a puppet show, try their hands at various sports or handicrafts and bounce to their hearts' content in the jumpy house.

Many activities take place indoors or under cover, so don't let rainy weather keep you from coming to this fabulous family-friendly event.

International food at the Chubu Walkathon

Sample Local and International Foods

Several food vendors will be on hand from a variety of local, international shops and restaurants. It's a great chance to try some new international cuisine or just enjoy your favorites.

You will be sure to find something you like and prices are reasonable, so come hungry.

Not to mention, a portion of the proceeds from food sales is donated to the Walkathon by the vendors.

Raffle prizes to be won at Chubu Walkathon

Win great prizes!

Entry to the Walkathon entitles you to be entered in the raffle where you have a chance to win amazing prizes.

In addition to the raffle ticket included with your entry passport, additional raffle tickets will be on sale at the event to increase your chances of winning. All prizes have been donated, so 100% of your ticket price goes to helping local charities.

Charity booths at Chubu Walkathon

Learn about local charities and organizations

If you are interested in getting involved in your community, a number of local organizations and charities will be on hand with information booths and staff to answer any questions you may have.

Since its inception in 1992, the Chubu Walkathon has contributed 185 million yen ($1.85 million USD) to local charities in Chubu. In the 5 years from 2019-2023, we have averaged 5.12 million yen per year ($51,200). Just by attending (buying raffle tickets, purchasing food & drink), you are helping local charitable organizations.

Where does your donation go?

Get some exercise...

There's so much to do we almost forgot to mention the WALK portion of the Walkathon.

In keeping with a traditional walkathon event, there will be a course to walk as a symbolic gesture of going the extra mile to help. You are not obligated to make the walk, but it's a great chance to work off that big international lunch.

...and make new (international) friends

And who knows who you will meet along the way? Everyone at the Walkathon is friendly and outgoing. Don't miss your chance to connect with the diverse international community that makes Chubu such a great place to live.
