Here are three ways that you can participate in the 30th Annual Chubu Walkathon and help make this milestone event a success.
The American Business Community of Nagoya (ABCN) started the Walkathon as a way to give back to the community in both spirit and contributions to local charities. As the years went by, Nagoya International School joined the ABCN and then ABCN became the Chubu Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ). Like the co-hosts, the event has changed and morphed to become an iconic Nagoya event of family fun and giving to wonderful organizations that do important work in our community.
Due to the pandemic, like last year, we are offering an online event so that everyone can join in the celebration, safely from home. With fingers crossed, we will be back in the park next year enjoying each other face-to-face but for this year, again, we invite you to join us LIVE on Facebook for a special tribute to 30 years of Walkathon.
The program will start at 10:00am and will run until approximately 11:30am on Sunday, May 23rd.
You will be entertained by local musicians, listen to special guest speakers, and be introduced to some of our charities throughout the program. There will also be opportunities to get discount codes for local establishments and opportunities to join a raffle for some great prizes!
Please join us! Give us a thumbs up, a shout out, or even a donation. These charities need our support and Walkathon needs you! See you then!
We are encouraging people to participate by taking a “Walk Down Memory Lane” and get out and walk this year. We will have a Walkathon tent set up in each of the three Nagoya parks that have hosted the Walkathon over the years:
The idea is to choose anytime between 10am and 2pm (official Walkathon time) to walk. There will be official Walkathon tents (see maps via the links above) set up in all three parks. You can start at any park and do any number of things:
Make sure to check in at the Walkathon tent where there will be QR codes for discounts at local establishments and for entry into a raffle. Record your steps and post on Instagram or Facebook with #Walkathon30 for a chance to win prizes for the longest walk!
Of COURSE we encourage a proper COVID-safe walk which includes:
Like this last year, the pandemic has taken a toll on the various small charities we support. With already challenging ways to raise money, the economic times have been hard on many of our participating charities.
You can help by...
